Establishing a state or local identity for your meat or dairy products – Pride of NY

Many consumers are interested in supporting local food products. State governments are also interested in promoting food products from their state. Depending on the amount of meat or dairy products your farm produces you may want to participate in one of these branding or marketing initiatives. Pride of NY is a marketing initiative introduced by the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets in 1996. It is a labeling program that helps to identify and promote NY agricultural products. USDA inspected lamb and goat carcasses and packaged meat qualify for the program. Enrollees sign a Participation Agreement for the rights to use the logo and pay a one-time participation fee of $25.00. The logo is available as a label (2 sizes) that can be ordered at a small fee or as an advertisement slick that can be mailed to you at no cost. You can then scan this adslick and incorporate it into your own labels and brochures.
